Sringfield Business

Every town, big or small, has some kind of business running it. The business brings money in for operations and for residents. People living in Springfield MA real estate enjoy a large range of businesses for all their needs and to keep the economy running smoothly, thanks to size and placement.

Springfield is the fourth largest city in Massachusetts, and the largest city in its immediate area. That means many people go to Springfield for their daily needs; it's like knowing you will find a chef for hire in Toronto, although you may live in Oakville. Let's take a look at a few of the businesses in the city of Springfield.

Baystate Health is by far the largest company running out of Springfield. It's the largest employer in the city. Baystate Health runs hospitals, care clinics, medical offices, and pharmacies. Employees work with lead products designed to shield others from X rays, provide home health care to patients, and a wide variety of other services.

Supermarket chain Big Y is another home grown Springfield success story. It was one of the first chain stores to be operated in the state, and certainly the first that took the concept to the grocery level. The store has everything residents could want in the way of groceries, from produce to dairy to household goods. They run aggressive marketing campaigns, eschewing PPC campaigns and other Internet tactics for old fashioned sales and coupons.

An exciting note about the business scene in Springfield for sports fans everywhere is the fact that the American Hockey League is based in the city. The AHL is just one step below the National Hockey League on the pro hockey circuit. Players on teams in the league receive their last phases of development before they take the step up to the bigs. Of course, some of them don't pan out and you might find them operating a tube cutting machine alongside other workers at one of the factories in the area.

Peter Pan bus lines, one of the smaller area specific bus lines in the continental US, has their headquarters in Springfield. Using online printing services to advertise and print their tickets, the company is becoming a larger presence on the national transportation scene.

On the financial scene, Springfield houses a couple of major state players. The most important may be the TD Bank, which has its Massachusetts branch headquartered in our city. This bank is one of the few which escaped the Wall Street massacre a few years ago, thanks to its sound lending policies. The city is also home to Massachusetts Life Insurance Company, the largest Fortune 500 company in the state.
